Italian food, by no doubt, is amazingly appetising and mouth watering. What makes Italian delicacies so flavoursome are the fresh herbs and tantalising spices used in it. These spices enhance the flavour, texture, and colour of the dishes and impart it a unique taste.

Italian cuisine is a perfect mix of veggies, cream, and sausages and fresh spices and herbs. Its taste is riveting and the best part is it is that it is healthy as well. Most aromatic herbs, which are used in Italian cuisine grow naturally and have a fresh taste. Italian restaurants in Delhi use fresh aromatic herbs like basil, rosemary, oregano, and sage to cater authentic Italian taste to their customers. It’s virtually impossible to think of Italian cuisine without the amazing flavours of these spices. Let’s have a glance at some Italian spices used in Italian cuisine.

Parsley: Known as Prezzemolo in Italian, this herb adds a fresh taste to Italian cuisine. It is pungent and tangy in taste, which is why it is used in most Italian dishes. Best restaurants in Delhi use the flat-leaved variety to make their food tastier.

Fennel: This spice is used in three ways in Italian cooking. Sometimes it is used as a whole, sometimes in quarter form and sometimes in the baked version. It is mainly used in the raw form in Italian salads as it adds a bit of bitter tang to the salads. It is also a common flavouring spice in sausages and salamis.

Oregano: Talking about Italian cuisine, how can we forget to mention the oregano? This one is an important ingredient in Italian pizzas, sauces, and casseroles. There is several kinds of oregano available on the market, ranging from fresh to spicy.

Basil: Sweet basil and blush basil are amongst the most commonly used spices in Italian cuisine. It is the main ingredient in various Italian soups, salads, and pizzas. Freshly chopped basil adds a punch of pungent and sweet combination to the dishes, which tastes amazing.

Italian cuisine is incomplete without the use of spices and herbs. The spices have to be fresh and high on quality. During summers, it is suggested to get from the grocery shop but during winter time you can use dry herbs instead. Make sure you add all these ingredients in the right amount otherwise it can change the taste of the entire dish.
